Janet Williams of Magic Homestaging is a dynamic and experienced homestager and interior decorator in the White Rock /South Surrey area. She has lived in the area for over 25 years and is very involved in community events and fundraising.
Her passion for colour and style make her a good choice for transforming your home!
1. Use what you love as your inspiration. Do you have a great piece of art that is sentimental or makes you happy or a special chair or pillow? Use this as a jumping off point for colour and style.
2. Create your own design library. Tear out pages from magazines and keep them in a scrapbook separated by room or accessory ie rugs, sofas, etc.

3. Shop. Visit stores or browse online looking at boutiques, chain stores, paint companies etc. Don’t forget craigslist or thrift stores for great bargains and inspiration.
4. Only buy what you love. Don’t be tempted by that cheap sofa. You are better to wait until it feels right, is the right size, and colour so you will love it for years to come.
5. Stay neutral. Make sure you stay neutral for your large expensive pieces like a sofa. You are better to go crazy with accessories, pillows chair or rug.
6. Try new things. Mix things up a bit. Add an unexpected piece to every room. If you have a traditional room, add a rustic piece. Mixing styles can be a great way to personalize your space.
7. Don’t be afraid of colour. Colour has such a profound effect on people. Decide how you want a room to feel… energized, relaxed, romantic. Pick colours you love or are drawn to, not sure ,look at your clothes closet for ideas. What colour do you wear a lot?
8. Bring in nature. A natural element is always appealing. Pillows with a leaf motif, a picture of trees, rocks in a vase, twigs. All these things ground and soften a room.
9. Start slow. Don’t try and do it all in a day. Shop different stores, this creates a more interesting look and in the end more welcoming.
10. Enjoy the process!!!
Warm Wishes, Janet
